Pricing

Since every project is unique, our pricing is all estimate based. Don’t worry though, you won't receive a surprise bill. We will go over the entire project's costs with you before the work begins.

What to Expect

  • Plan for about 2-4 hours for your appointment. Depending on the size and age of your home, the energy advisor will need time to perform a detailed inspection. You can choose to stay throughout the process, step in for parts of it, or go about your day.
  • Ensure all areas of your home are accessible, including the attic, basement, crawl spaces, and utility rooms.
  • Disable alarm systems while the energy advisor is inspecting the home.
  • To ensure safety, please crate or remove pets from the inspection area.
  • Turn on the electricity, gas, and heating systems before we arrive.
  • Your home energy tech will conduct a blower door test to measure air leaks and airflow. This involves setting up a temporary fan in an exterior door, so please make sure that area is clear.
  • Get your home blower door test-ready:  Make sure all windows and doors are installed. Exposed ceilings, exterior walls and exposed floors must be intact.
  • If you have a wood-burning fireplace, clear out ashes before your appointment.
  • You'll get a thorough evaluation of your home’s insulation, windows, doors and heating and cooling systems.
  • After the inspection, you will get a personalized energy report. This report will show your home’s EnerGuide rating and suggest improvements.
  • Your energy advisor will talk to you about the results. They will suggest ways to use energy better. This can help you save money and lower your carbon footprint.

During the evaluation, our energy advisors will:

  • Measure insulation levels and surface areas.
  • Assess your heating, cooling, ventilation, and hot water systems.
  • Conduct a blower door test to measure air leaks.
  • Perform a depressurization test if needed to check for combustion issues.
  • Measure air changes per hour at 50 pascals of pressure.
  • Identify areas where air leaks the most.
  • Compare your home’s energy efficiency to a 2020 National Building Code standard.
