Did you know that water heaters can consume up to 25% of your home’s energy use? That’s more than any other system besides your furnace. If your energy bills have been steadily climbing, don’t blame it on the family members who daydream in the shower — it might just be time to replace the tank.
Besides energy usage, replacing your older tank can help prevent a sudden breakdown, or worse — a serious leak.
Atmospheric vent water heaters are the simplest option. They don't use electricity and moving parts, resulting in a straightforward setup. A fan in power venting water heaters helps keep gases cooler as it pushes them up and out.
We also carry eco-friendly tankless water heater systems that are kind to the environment and your wallet.
Rümi carries a variety of water heaters, from standard natural vent models to power vented options. We have tankless systems, which are eco-friendly and energy saving.
No job is too big or too small for our skilled plumbers! We’ll have your hot water tank installed quickly and efficiently, so you can return to your daily routine.
Rheem is the primary conventional hot water tank brand we work with, but we do install and repair all major brands.
Rheem —Atmospheric Vent: These water heaters utilize a draft diverter and are atmospherically vented.
Rheem—Power Vent: These High-Performance Series™ water heaters provide incredibly hot water delivery from a space-saving, convenient package.
There are several hot water tanks to choose from, and the best type for your home depends on your family's needs and your home setup. If you're looking for a tank that is efficient and environmentally friendly, consider a tankless water heater system. A standard atmospheric vent model may suit you if you need a large-capacity tank.
Look at your water heater. Does it have a metal pipe rising from the top? If so, it's likely you have an atmospheric vent.
This type of system heats water with fuel. Your chimney acts as the vent for any excess gas, releasing it up and out.
Venting doesn't use electricity, so the water will heat even if the power goes out.
Power venting pushes excess gases out with a fan. The fan cools those gases, allowing this type of hot water tank setup to use light, plastic pipes.
Power venting heaters are more energy efficient because all the fuel used goes to heating the water, unlike in an atmospheric venting model. Fans also create more consistent pressure to push dangerous gases out of your home.
The one drawback to power venting is that it’s more challenging to install and therefore requires a more significant investment upfront.
Power venting is more efficient because it uses a fan to push the excess gases through the venting pipes and outside, as opposed to relying on pressure from the combustion alone to push the gases up and out of the chimney in atmospheric venting systems.
A typical water heater installation takes about 2 hours, but this can vary if there are no major gas line changes. This is just an estimate, and the technician can discuss the scope of the project once they investigate the details.
Before your appointment, our advisors will ask what type of tank you have now. We'll need to know if it’s atmospheric or two-pipe power vented (motor on top). Not sure? Don’t worry — we’ll help you determine what tank you have!
