The door you choose impacts the price of the door replacement more than anything. In general, expect to pay between $1,500–$5,000 for the full project. Rümi pro door installers will go over the entire cost of the project with you before any work begins.

You bet! The threshold installation is included with your new exterior door.  

You should always replace the threshold for both front door replacement and back door replacement. This gives your door a firm, perfect fit with your new door and ensures that the two will match. Since your threshold is a high foot traffic area, they're often quite beat up by the time you replace a door.  

The North American Fenestration Standard (NAFS) combines the window and door testing and ratings processes into a harmonized North American Standard. It's part of the National Building Code of Canada and implemented across Canadian provinces.

NAFS Certification requires meeting stringent standards for air tightness, water penetration resistance, structural performance under wind loads, and forced entry resistance. In short, it gives you peace of mind that your windows and doors are up to the task.

From your request to your new windows and doors, the entire process takes 6–8 weeks. Our windows and doors have been handcrafted in Alberta for more than 40 years. It’s worth the wait.

The actual installation appointment will be about 4 hours. We'll give you more details once we've measured your door frame and matched it to your new door.  

In general, you don't need a permit for simple door or window replacement. As long as there will be no structural change to your home, we can carry out the installation safely and independently.

Ratings are established by assessing both the structural attributes and the water resistance capabilities of a product. This comprehensive evaluation results in the assignment of a single numerical rating known as the PERFORMANCE GRADE (PG).

NAFS has further divided fenestration product applications into four distinct categories, referred to as PERFORMANCE CLASS. Each PERFORMANCE CLASS mandates that products must meet a specified minimum PERFORMANCE GRADE.

Here are the PERFORMANCE CLASS designations along with their corresponding minimum PERFORMANCE GRADE requirements:

• R: Residential (one and two-family) - requiring a minimum PG15
• LC: Light Commercial (low-rise and multi-family dwellings) - necessitating a minimum PG25
• CW: Commercial Window (low-rise and multi-family dwellings, designed for higher loads and larger sizes) - requiring a minimum PG30
• AW: Architectural Window (suitable for mid to high-rise buildings and exposed conditions) - mandating a minimum PG40
